چکیده

Correntropy has recently been introduced as a generalized correlation function between two stochastic processes, which contains both high-order statistics and temporal structure of the stochastic processes in one functional form. Based on this blend of high-order statistics and temporal structure in a single functional form, we propose a unified criterion for instantaneous blind source separation (BSS). The criterion simultaneously exploits both spatial and spectral characteristics of the sources. Consequently, the new algorithm is able to separate independent, identically distributed (i.i.d.) sources, which requires high-order statistics; and it is also able to separate temporally correlated Gaussian sources with distinct spectra, which requires temporal information. Performance of the proposed method is compared with other popular BSS methods that solely depend on either high-order statistics (FastICA, JADE) or second-order statistics at different lags (SOBI). The new algorithm outperforms the conventional methods in the case of mixtures of sub-Gaussian and superGaussian sources. r 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A Unifying Criterion for Blind Source Separation and Decorrelation: Simultaneous Diagonalization of Correlation Matrices

Blind source separation and blind output decorrelation are two well-known problems in signal processing. For instantaneous mixtures, blind source separation is equivalent to a generalized eigen-decomposition, while blind output decorrelation can be considered as an iterative method of output orthogonalization. We propose a steepest descent procedure on a new cost function based on the Frobenius...

Instantaneous blind source separation based on the exploitation of temporal correlations and nonstationarity

This paper provides insight into the algebraic and geometric structure of Instantaneous Blind Signal Separation based on the assumptions that the cross-correlation functions of the source signals are zero and that the source auto-correlation functions are linearly independent. The presented viewpoint is unifying in the sense that all kinds of statistical variability in the data, such as tempora...

Blind source separation using least-squares type adaptive algorithms

In this paper adaptive least-squares type algorithms are introduced for blind source separation. They are based on minimizing a criterion used in context with nonlinear PCA (Principal Component Analysis) networks. The new algorithms converge clearly faster and provide more accurate results than typical current adaptive blind separation algorithms based on instantaneous gradients. They are also ...

Blind Signal Separation Using an Extended Infomax Algorithm

The Infomax algorithm is a popular method in blind source separation problem.
